"Brydie O’Connor’s Barbara Hammer documentary is a veritable goldmine of queer cinema history, and a film worthy of its peerless subject" - Indiewire
Groundbreaking filmmaker Barbara Hammer picked-up a camera to document the lesbian community and her own life, producing a vast body of film and video works for five decades and creating her own queer aesthetic in the process. Debut-feature director O’Conner’s documentary is rich in interviews and archive footage, and punctuated with clips from Hammer’s work, making it accessible for all.
Barbara Forever and director O’Conner have garnered awards at Berlin (Teddy, Best Documentary, 2026) and Ann Arbor (Most Promising Filmmaker) as well as nominations at Sundance and Frameline.
