Steve Bisley

Steve Bisley is one of Australia’s most recognized actors, with a career spanning 40 years.  He is a graduate of The National Institute of Dramatic Art and has played leading roles in theatre, film and television.

Steve is the recipient of two AFI awards, A CineFest Oz ‘Film Legend’ Award and a Variety Club ‘Film Actor of The Year’ award. He also has a star on Sydney’s ‘Walk of Fame’.

Steve is also an accomplished theatre director and drama teacher. He has taught drama at N.I.D.A, The Actors Centre, WAAPA and TAFTA. He regularly runs his own master classes titled ‘The Art of the Monologue’. He had the pleasure of directing Willy Russell’s ‘Stags and Hens’ starring Cate Blanchett.

Steve has also turned his talents to writing. His first work ‘Stillways’, a memoir, was published by HarperCollins in 2013. The following year ‘Stillways’ was short listed in the N.S.W Premiere’s literary Awards, The National Biography Awards and the Queensland Literary Awards. His second memoir ‘All the Burning Bridges’ was published in 2017 by Bonnier Publishing. He is currently writing his first work of fiction with HarperCollins.

Steve is as keen as ever to contribute to the development of the arts in Australia. He has a passion for enriching the lives of Australians through telling Australian stories and preserving them for our future generations to experience.
