
Dick Dale is a unique Independent film-maker who has been Writing, Directing and Producing his own Genre Film Productions for close to Thirty years. He has sometimes won or been nominated awards for his work. His magnum Opus debut feature Film, ‘Ribspreader’ claimed awards as Best Picture: Monster Fest 2022 and Audience Favorite: Adelaide Film Festival 2022. Ribspreader is Australia’s first, ‘Splatterpunk Video Nasty”. It has screened nationally on the Monster Fest Australian tour and at the Canberra, National Screen and Film Archives. It has entertained audiences abroad in London, Glasgow, The Edinburgh Horror Festival, Jack Stephenson’s Huset Cinema in Copenhagen, Blackpool and Manchester. Ribspreader also screened to a sold out Cinema at ‘Gorefest 5’ in Tokyo.
It has and is building a kind of ‘Cult’ status with screenings and streaming/ Blu Ray distribution through Monster Fest Presents… and Umbrella Entertainment. Dick is a workaholic on his own unfunded projects and assisting other Filmmakers on Productions. He has dabbled in many Departments including, Writer, Director, Assistant Director, Producer, Camera, Sound, Art Department, Production Assistant and bad actor. In 1997, Dick founded the infamous Trasharama-agogo Film Festival. A program of Irreverent shorts from all over the Globe. From beginnings screening in a Punk Rock dive, it now premieres at Monster Fest at the Nova Carlton in Melbourne. It tours Australia-wide for special events. In 2025, Dick returned with the International Film Festival, ‘The Murder City Carnivale of Cinema’. This is a South Australian popular Alternative and Underground Feature Film showcase he curates.
Dick has a background in playing in high-energy and very theatrical Punk Rock bands, as well as being a band booker, and worst barman at Grungey Rock Dives. He sometimes likes quiet walks on the beach. Film is his only passion now. He hopes to live longer.
