Christian Byers

Christian Byers is an Australian filmmaker and actor, who has worked extensively in film from a young age. He has had leading roles in the Australian films Opal Dream (2006), December Boys (2007), and The Tree (2010). On TV, he starred as Easybeats’ frontman Stevie Wright in Friday On My Mind (2017) as well as the streaming series Bump (2020-2025) and its spinoff Year Of (2023). Most recently he played Australian POW Jack Rainbow in Justin Kurzel’s Narrow Road to the Deep North for Amazon. He co-wrote and acted in the short film Laura (2020) which screened at Melbourne International Film Festival. As director and producer, he made the doc short Solid Flesh (2021) which screened at the Melbourne Documentary Film Festival. His debut feature Death of an Undertaker (2025) had its world premiere at Sydney Film Festival.
