School of Hard Knocks tells the story of Mana The Polynesian Warrior’s career and life – from his early interest in wrestling, which saw him travel to the USA to pursue a career, to his subsequent role as the owner of New Horizon Pro Wrestling. 

Alongside this tale of wrestling and sport is the parallel story of Mana’s disability. 

What emerges through Broadhurst's film is a biographical portrait of a man and the wider community around him.

Director Cris Broadhurst is an award-winning filmmaker whose work has featured on Netflix, SBS, NITV and others, School of Hard Knocks is his debut feature documentary and was entirely produced in WA.
