Annually we work with the City of Vincent with the City of Vincent film Project where for this year together we’ve commissioned and executive produced two short documentaries shot in and around the City of Vincent. The City of Vincent Film Project provides early-career filmmakers with the opportunity, support and funding to make a short non-fiction work that demonstrates their filmmaking talents. It reflects our local community by showcasing the local stories, characters, and urban legends in Vincent. Tonight’s line up includes two films from the 2026 initiative plus one of our favourite local shorts from 2026.
In a Sentimental Mood
Aron Attiwell (Producer) Saskia Glass (Director, Writer)
A sanctuary for anyone seeking connection through sound, a place where music becomes colour and instruments are intimate. “In a Sentimental Mood” documents the Ellington Jazz Club through a journey of synaesthesia to visually realise the magic of experiencing live music up close, and how vital small venues are to our community.
To Be Proud
Theresa Roberts (Producer) Jasmine Formato (Director/Writer)
To Be Proud is a heartfelt exploration of Irish culture in the City of Vincent, weaving together stories of connection, homesickness, humour and pride to reveal how community becomes a vital anchor for those living far from home.
Trading Cards
Radheya Jang (Dir) Jay Jay Jegathestan (Prod) 14:49mins
A number of years ago, the City of Vincent film Project had the pleasure of commissioning the incredibly successful documentary Pacing the Pool. Screening at more than 100 film festivals internationally and garnering a host of international awards, its success took everyone by surprise. This year, we thought we’d highlight the newest work from the team behind that film with the sensational animation Trading Cards. Here, an enigmatic man journeys back in time to find his younger self, seemingly to revisit the nostalgia of trading cards. An exploration of identity, mental health and the erosion of childhood innocence, Trading Cards is a dark fantasy animated film about the weight of living with Obsessive-compulsive disorder.
Also screening are the five finalists in each category from three categories of the life in Pictures Filmmaking Competition, followed by the always great awards and glittering closing night party.
