A tense small-town drama, Shane remains a unique and remarkable work that retains its power nearly four decades on.

Furness won Best Actor awards from the Film Critics Circle of Australia and the Seattle International Film Festival for her performance, while Beverly Blankenship and Michael Brindley won best screenplay from the Film Critics Circle of Australia. 

Watching this film now it is easy to see why Shame garnered such acclaim.
