Winning the Best Film Award at 2024 SXSW Sydney, A Grand Mockery is a remarkable achievement.

Shot on super-8, the film has a beautiful dreamlike luminescence as it tells the story of Josie, a man increasingly lost in his own interior world. 

As the film progresses Josie’s interior world begins to affect his exterior world, creating a strange surreal infused work that mixes comic realism and drama. 

In A Grand Mockery, Queensland based directors Briggs and Dixon have created a unique film that illustrates new possibilities and avenues for exploration in Australian cinema, and show the true possibilities of shooting a feature on a format that is ripe for a comeback. 

Adam and Sam will be introducing the film and running a super 8 workshop.
