Formed by brothers Jeff and Steve Macdonald in their suburban home in 1978, Redd Kross were unique, Steve was eleven and in middle school, while Jeff only a couple of years older.

While they started as a punk band, this was seventies LA and the brothers were immersed in pop culture and this rapidly fed into their music. Inspired by beach party movies, The Partridge Family, the warm LA sunshine, all kinds of rock and pop music, Linda Blair, The Brady Bunch, and so much more, Redd Kross created (and still create) music, and a world, that was infectiously fun.

Talking to the brothers, their collaborators, fans and other musicians, and threading some great archive footage throughout, Born Innocent: The Redd Kross Story mines an endlessly rich stream of pop culture, from Annette Funicello to Sophia Coppola, The Germs to The Go Go’s, The Melvins to The Runaways, and all points in between.

More than just a music documentary, this is a portrait of a band shaped by flicking TV screens and movies, by snearing punk and happy pop, and ultimately, the story of two brothers who just seem to really enjoy what they do.
