Pitch’d Battle 2024

Created by Jethro Gartrell, Nicholas Watson, Jake Isard and Tyler Isard

Calling all local filmmakers! We invite you to form teams of 1 – 3 members and craft a one-pager presenting a short film idea inspired by a given prompt. This is your chance to showcase your creativity and storytelling.

For our inaugural event, the prompt is: “From The Ashes”

What does that mean? Well, that’s totally up to you. If you can craft a compelling story and justify how it draws on the prompt, you’re ready to pitch off! You’re only limited by your imagination – so where will this prompt take you?

No genre is off limits, just be sure to keep it to short film ideas (approx. 10 mins), even if that is a proof of concept for a grander idea.

With the help of experienced producers, directors and film lecturers, all entries will be anonymously reviewed and whittled down to the best of the best – 8 Finalists. These 8 Finalist “Teams” must develop their ideas further, creating Pitch Decks to present at an in-person networking and pitch session hosted at The Backlot Perth as part of this year’s Revelation Perth International Film Festival.

Finalists will have the opportunity to present to our esteemed judging panel consisting of industry professionals; this will be your arena, where each finalist “Team” will have 3 – 5 electrifying minutes to pitch (with their pitch deck as key supporting material). Competing to deliver the most compelling, well-rounded, and attractive pitch, who will impress the judges and claim victory in this battle of the pitches?!

Submissions Open: Monday 10th June

Submissions Close: Wednesday 26th June at 12:00am (Midnight)

Finalists Announced: Monday 1st July at 12:00pm (Midday)

“THE FINAL SHOWDOWN”: Thursday 4th July, 6:00 pm @ The Backlot Perth

  • Team Composition: Teams must consist of no more than 1 – 3 creatives; submissions, ranging from individual creatives to full 3 person teams, will receive equal consideration.
