A surreal, dreamlike journey though one man’s personal crisis, Mammalia follows 39-year old Camil on the edge of middle-age as he struggles with all facets of his existence – work, relationship, his own body. 

The unconventional narrative shifts from the mundane into a surreal fairy tale. 

Beautifully shot on film the movie looks wonderful, each meticulously framed image plays with duration giving the audience the opportunity to really see the film, in parts recalling the work of Ron Andersson. 

A true cinematic work and classic ‘film festival’ movie, Mammalia is Mihailescu’s second feature following the award-winning documentary You Are Ceausescu to Me (2021) and is produced by Ada Solomon (Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn) and Diana Păroiu (Return to Seoul).
