Rev gets Academic!

It's with great pleasure we announce Rev's new academic discussion platform - RevCon Academic.

The changing environment of film festivals and film related conferences internationally has seen a significant shift away from academic discussion and analysis and into market orientation. Whilst the importance of strong marketplaces isn't underestimated by Rev, neither is the central nature of rigorous academic discussion, debate and criticism. As a result, RevCon Academic seeks to fill a gap long vacant on the Australian film festival scene.

Taking place as part of the overall RevCon masterclass and seminar series, RevCon Academic is now calling nationally and internationally for the submission of papers on subjects dear to Rev's independent heart including new modes of distribution and exhibition, hybrid and genre cinema, social justice and documentary and a range of other subjects and issues.

If you're academically minded, we urge you to participate in this excellent new initiative that is also partnering with Macquarie University in the publication of 10 submitted papers through their Scan: Journal of Media Arts Culture.

Call for Papers deadline is April 1st so download the guidelines, put in your Travel fellowship application (when that goes live) and we hope to see you at Rev 2012!
