Rest In Peace Jeff Keen

Concerned from the outset with extending film beyond its traditional narrative limits, it seemed a logical step for me to get beyond the frame, and explore the full graphic potential of the medium, in the direction of non-linear movement and synthetic vision.” –Jeff Keen

It's with deep sorrow that we announce to Revelation audiences the passing of one of the great experimental filmmakers and pioneers of Expanded Cinema, Jeff Keen on June 22nd.

Screening as one of our special events for 2012, the Jeff Keen retrospective program provides a rare glimpse into his unique world and mind. Experimental cinema across all its forms is a small family and with losses in recent years of the likes of Bruce Conner, Stan Brakhage and now Jeff Keen, the environment is much less colourful.

Expanded Cinema and experimental stylings are very close to our heart but fortunately the works remain and it's great that this year we've seen a resurgence of experimental work as we haven't seen for a long time.

There's a spirit there.

Click here for a really great obituary.
