Icons of underground and no budget filmmaking, twins George and Mike Kuchar were seduced by cinema at the tender age of 12, shooting 8mm shorts in their teens, and producing such classics as I Was A Teenage Rumpot and The Craven Sluck from their home in the Bronx. Now, more than four decades later, the brothers still make movies which screen at festivals and galleries across the world, ranging from camp epics to personal diary films, and including Sins of the Fleshapoids and Hold Me While I'm Naked. George also scripted and starred in the legendary, and outrageous, midnight movie Thundercrack. Their influence can be seen across the indie filmmaking world.
By turns hilariously funny and poignant, It Came From Kuchar tells the brothers' stories through ample film clips, behind the scenes footage of George's legendary Art Institute film class, and interviews with filmmaking fans John Waters, B Ruby Rich, Gerard Malanga and V Vale, alongside the brothers themselves. A truly inspirational film, It Came From Kuchar shows what is really possible for those pursuing their artistic visions.
