The Wizard of Oz and Judy Garland is rich with fantastic imagery and metaphor. So too is the collision of Hollywood and the real world always and in the hands of an experimental filmmaker - well there's some rich ground to plunder. And plunder is the word, so much so that this work (created for Melbourne's Next Wave festival) was pulled from the program for its deliberate play with copyright infringement.
In a smart sampling style that we love, instead of taking Dorothy to Oz, the twister transports a young, hopeful Judy Garland into the future where she encounters her disillusioned adult self.
