One Hundred Mornings follows two couples living in a small cabin at the edge of a lake in rural Ireland. Society has broken down, for reasons that are not explained, and the effects are slowly, inexorably, being felt. Focusing on the relationships and increasing crises faced by the quartet rather than apocalyptic spectacle, the film carries an emotional density that echoes works such as Cormac McCarthy's The Road.
Wonderfully shot and with pitch perfect performances from the cast, which includes Alex Reid (The Descent, Jetsam), Ciaran McMenamin (The Last Confession of Alexander Pearce) and Kelly Campbell (Kingdom), One Hundred Mornings is a rare film, placing character development and plot above unnecessary melodrama. It creates a naturalistic vision of the end of society that will haunt the audience long after the film has ended.
Director Conor Horgan will introduce the film and answer questions after both screenings.
