A boy meets girl movie with a difference, focusing on two lonely twenty-somethings trying to come to terms with modern life in Los Angeles.  He is working at a video store when he becomes infatuated with an apparently enigmatic female customer.  With nothing better to do and nowhere else to go, he parks his car near her apartment and contrives to start a relationship with her. Despite his overwhelming optimism, she remains utterly disinterested in having any form of sexual relationship with him and continually attempts to stop their budding friendship.

Written, directed and starring Marianna Palka, Good Dick is superficially reminiscent of the early work of indie maestros such as Hal Hartley with its combination of wry humour with low-key, brooding drama. However, Palka has a powerful voice and the film eschews what has become in so many films simple generic indie convention and instead follows a more unorthodox narrative trajectory.
