Moved by his young daughter's questionsabout why she wasn't born with "Good Hair", comedy legend Chris Rock sets out to examine the $9 billion black hair industry. By turns heartbreaking and hilariously funny, Good Hair sees Rock getting the skinny from hair stylists, salons, barbershops and laboratories that manufacture hair-straightening formulas. He explores the industry and the special relationship between hairdressers and their clients, mothers and daughters, and African American women and their hair. Along the way he gleans opinions and insights from social commentators, hair designers and black celebrities including Ice-T,Maya Angelou, Eve, Kerry Washington, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Nia Long and Al Sharpton.
This multi-award winning film is a perfectly realised combination of investigative documentary and comedy.
