Dir: Amir Hossein Saghafi
This is a father-daughter tale - a father, afraid of abandonment, and daughter, attached to the one thing she has left of her deceased mother, an old horse. Although the daughter is already married, her father manipulates her into continuing to live with him.
The Man Who Became a Horse is based on Anton Chekhov’s short story Sorrow, about a man who, on the way to the hospital with his sick wife, reflects remorsefully on his own life.
This film, however, takes the narrative a step further to explore the inner world of a selfish man overtaken by self-pity.
