Dir: Ida Panahandeh
Winner: Un Certain Regard Special Jury Prize for Debut Films, Cannes
As part of her divorce settlement Nahid has retained custody of her son, conditional upon her not remarrying. However she does want to remarry – a widowed hotel owner, but Nahid (Sareh Bayat) knows that her former husband (played by Navid Mohammad Zadeh), who has still not accepted the divorce, will certainly challenge the custody.
In the meantime, life continues – among her other problems are her elderly bedridden mother and the growing disobedience of her young son. Temporary marriage seems like the solution but it just adds more problems.
This debut feature from Ida Panahandeh won the Un Certain Regard special jury prize for debut films at Cannes this year.
