A very special opportunity to experience Only At The Air, Only At Each Other - a unique VR work exhibited prior to the screening of 78/52 on Saturday 8th July. The work also informs the talk Working In VR at the SAE on Sunday 9th July.
Only The Air, Only At Each Other is an experimental exploration of in-between spaces, of spaces like waiting rooms, airports and in the case of Only At The Air, hotel rooms. It features a virtual reimagining of Marion Crane’s room at the Bates Motel (from Alfred HItchcock’s Psycho) and works metaphorically as a purgatorial space, a space between starting point and destination, and as an in-between space between life and death. Realisation by Greg Ferris, sound design by Alex Davies, voice-over by Cameron Stewart
“No one really runs away from anything. It’s like a private trap that holds us in like a prison. You know what I think? I think that we’re all in our private traps, clamped in them, and none of us can ever get out. We scratch and we claw, but only at the air, only at each other, and for all of it, we never budge an inch...” Norman Bates in Psycho.
This VR work will be exhibited at 1:30pm prior to the screening of 78/52 in the Luna Bar on Sat 8th and at 11.00am on Sunday 9th prior to Working in Virtual Realities at SAE, Northbridge (see Industrial Revelations).
