In a sub-basement corridor in a city hospital, a trio of workmen are instructed to break down a wall. Remodelling and improvements are essential. Against their better judgement they start to demolition, unleashing whatever lurks imprisoned in the darkness behind.
Combining Amazonian folklore that describes a forest spirit with the ill-lit corridors and wards of a hospital at night, the film spins a dark story of blood, violence and demonic possession.
Directors Bardales and Casanova have a genuine appreciation for the creepy and Maligno is rich in haunted, uncanny atmosphere as the hospital is slowly swallowed by darkness.
“Solid scary effects and intense performances. Suffice it to say I’m glad I viewed it during the day” Third Coast Review.
