Secrets at Sunrise

Director in attendance for Q&A's

Secrets at Sunrise tells the story of the Western Ground Parrot, a critically endangered parrot that lives in South Western Australia. Decades of land clearing and the threat posed by feral cats and foxes, has decimated the bird numbers, and the species is facing extinction.

Volunteers and scientists are researching the parrots and trying to save the species, Secrets of Sunrise follows these people as they try and save the birds from extinction.

Director Jennene Riggs’ (who has production credits for the television documentaries Super Predator and The Search for the Ocean’s Super Predator) film offers a fascinating look at the struggle to save the parrots and those dedicated to preserving the unique Australian species, with some beautiful cinematography as she travels deep into the bush.
