Club Rev @ Babushka

From Sat July 8th and running every night throughout the fest we have our very own hang-out at Babushka’s.

With DJs every night, live music, 16mm film screenings, panels and discussions, projections and light shows we’ll be there every night with our guests and crew. Come and say hi before and after screenings and experience that special Rev loving.

7pm-midnight from July 8th.
Free unless otherwise noted but always free after 9pm ‘ceptin Sat 8th.

16mm Screening: The Trinity Collection
We’ve always had a weird fascination for atomic test and civil defense films – so we’re going to inflict that on you with The Trinity Collection. This amazing collection of atomic test films, Duck and Cover type shorts and all manner of lost weirdness films come from the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s and are specially curated by Rev and presented in wonderful 16mm. Director’s Notes: Rev Program Director Jack Sargeant's talk examines the role of William (Naked Lunch) Burroughs in the arts - and especially his work in film and sound. He will also be selling copies of his book on Burroughs related culture: Against Control. Includes Q&A

16mm Screening: Mondo Teen

Going right back to our roots we present Mondo Teen. Drawn from our private collection of 16mm 1950s and 1960s education and information films this is a rare and hilarious compilation insight into exactly where we went wrong. Screening includes stories and commentary and films the calibber of Personal Hygiene For Boys, How Do You Do?, Are You Popular? and the The Story of Menstruation. Full ull program details soon.

Director’s Notes talk: Directing documentaries: Harder than Herding Cats. Two feature documentaries, directed by WA directors, are currently in cinemas. But what does it take to craft and create real life stories for the big screen.

Cathy Henkel (Rise of the Eco-Warriors, The Burning Season) will talk with James Bogle (Whitely) and Pete Gleeson (Hotel Coolgardie) about the directing challenges, storytelling devices and absolute force of will needed to pull together a feature documentary for cinema release. Oh God…they’re back. Perth’s very own live film and entertainment talk show is back. Magnolia’s Rev Special goes where few fear (or want) to tread. It’s a special kind of interactive cabaret and huge amounts of fun. Click here for full event details.

Rev is closing with the local short film showcase Get Your Shorts On! so join us for an after party with local filmmakers, Rev crew and everybody else as we wave goodbye for 2017! It’s free and is guaranteed to be a super fun celebration of all thing screen.
