Roller Dreams

Film Source

Offical Selection: Sydney Film Festival

Roller Dreams tells the story of the roller-dancing scene on Venice Beach, California. In the seventies a group of roller skaters came together to dance on the iconic beachfront. What followed would transform the nature of the beach, as crowds gathered to watch the incredible dazzling dances and join in the atmosphere of celebration. But then gentrification and politics started to conspire against the dreams of the skaters.

Combing some great archive footage with contemporary interviews Roller Dreams tells a story about celebration, dance, music and community. Roller Dreams is an inspiring movie about the importance of community and the lifelong joy of finding the freedom of your own culture.

A film that will have everybody getting their skates on!
