Amateurs In Space

Official Selection: IDFA

Peter and Kristian have always dreamed of travelling into space. Now, operating under the name Copenhagen Suborbitals, the two friends, alongside a group of dedicated volunteers, devote their time to developing a rocket designed to fly to space and make the return to Earth.

All of this will be achieved by a combination of readily accessible DIY technologies and raw enthusiasm. But over the years tensions are bound to rise…

Shot over six-years, Max Kestner’s film documents the trials the group go through, and the problems they face as they try to complete and launch their rocket.

Amateurs in Space is a film about rockets and the promise of space travel, but it is also about changing friendship, about success and failure, about enthusiasm, and about the importance of following dreams.
